Smoke Alarm Upgrades: Get Compliant Before 1 January 2027

From 1 January 2027, every home in Queensland, including owner-occupied houses, townhouses and units, must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms. Rentals and homes sold since 2022 already need to comply.

What your home needs. Photoelectric smoke alarms that meet AS 3786:2014, less than 10 years old, interconnected so that when one sounds they all sound, in every bedroom, in hallways connecting bedrooms to the rest of the home, and on every level.
Why use a licensed electrician. If your home has hardwired (240V) smoke alarms, they must be replaced with hardwired alarms, and only a licensed electrician can do that work. We assess your home, install the alarms, interconnect them, test the whole system and leave you with a compliance certificate.

When do I need interconnected smoke alarms?

Nuisance tripping can point to a fault, so do not keep resetting it. Call us and we will trace the fault. For urgent faults we are available 24/7, and an after-hours call-out fee applies.

Yes. We install EV chargers at homes, and can also connect home batteries, blackout backup and generators.

We came across Brite Spark at the Ipswich Show a number of years ago and decided on them to install a solar system. Unfortunately this was unable to go ahead due to a damaged roof. They identified the issue straight away and were great about it all, refunding our deposit promptly.

Fast forward to now, we locked in install of a battery and bigger system and they were fantastic. We had a small hiccup with the roof (again, no fault of Brite Spark) which they gladly waited out until it was resolved in a few weeks.

Their communication is excellent, they are very prompt and it was a good clean job. Pricing was competitive (not the cheapest) but given the ease of dealing with them and quality of job it was absolutely worth paying a little more.
